A Message from the President
Thanks to all those who were able to attend our 68th conference in October of 2007 at State College. The Atherton Hotel was a comfortable and convenient location to have our annual event attended by over 100 peers and students from across the state and bordering states! We had presentations occurring on 16 panels with over 60 presenters and a poster session and business meeting. We packed in the scholarship with energy and enthusiasm as we renewed friendships and met new peers and acquaintances. The undergraduates were especially fun this year, with great performances and exceptional paper presentations. My thanks is due to outgoing President Kathleen Glenister Roberts for her lead over the past year and her input as I work through the history and future needs of PCA.
With our new Vice President, Nichola Gutgold leading the charge, we are headed east to Lehigh Valley for our 69th annual conference. Nikki is a great coordinator and has our hotel booked for our lodging at the Holiday Inn-Fogelsville and Penn State-Lehigh Valley is excited to welcome PCA to their lovely campus. The call for papers and panels is on this website and we need your help in encouraging friends, peers and students to submit papers and panels to the appropriate Interest Council Chair. Please consider responding to the call by the end of May. Nikki will also host our executive council for an overnight meeting in Lehigh Valley at the end of May where we will discuss association business and the upcoming conference.
I thank the interest council chairs for the work they are about to embark upon and Nikki as she finalizes our next conference agenda. PCA is about us all. You will see in the call that we are looking to have scholarly discussions about the spheres of influence we in the communication discipline touch and effect. With that in mind, work on and good luck with finals!
Melissa A. Cook, St. Vincent College
